Lost in San Francisco

This is the second Homeward Bound disney adventure. The characters are Sassy, the pet cat, Shadow, the wise old timer, and Chance, the fun loving American Bulldog who is newest to the family. The whole family, including the pets, are going on a vacation when the animals escape at the airport in San Francisco before even getting onto the airplane. They run into a few problems on their journey to get home when they run into Riley's Gang. Riley becomes good friends with the pets, and Chance falls in love with Delialah, one of the stray dogs in Riley's Gang. Riley helps point the trio on their way to the Golden Gate Bridge so they could find their way home. Chance becomes depressed on his way home, thinking Delialah didn't want to come with him until they finally make it home. After a series of hazards Delialah shows up at their home. The family then takes in Delialah.

This thrilling hit is favored by people of all audiences. It is a funny adventure that is going to please everyone. There is  happy ending, so no one is left unhappy. This is the second time these three pets have traveled many miles to make it back to their home. It makes people believe anything is possible with a lost pet and the love of an animal companion; also how animals play a large part in our lives. My favorite character is Chance by far. He plays the young pup that's still learning the reigns in life. He is incredibly goofy, and is very uncoordnated and runs into absolutely everything. He can make anyone laugh and have a better day, especially the way him and Sassy bicker back and forth. This is one of my favorite movies, I rate it an A+.

The Lanterns

Rapunzel is the main character in the story. She is the princess in the movie Tangled. She has magical hair that can heal people, and make them feel young when being touched with her hair while she sings. As a child she was stole by a whitch named Mother Gothel, she impersonated Rapunzel's mother and kept her locked up in a tower in the woods. She has a pet Camillion that is very loyal, and follows her everywhere. A young thief named Flinn Ryder is trying to escape the police and tries to hide in the tower. Rapunzel tells him that in exchange for his precious crown he must act as her guide. She runs away from her home in the tower in search of the floating lights that appear every year on her birthday. Leaving the tower leads her to discover who she really is, and even without her long blonde hair she can still heal people she cares about. In the end she is reunited with her family in the palace, and Flinn becomes a part of the family.

The movie Tangled, has a great storyline. It has a meaning that has to be uncovered, that going through your life your going to try to give your life meaning and find out who you are. It is a very child appropriate film, and is very well suited for the family. I greatly enjoyed this movie. This movie has action, some musical qualities, its very funny, and also has a little bit of romantic parts. I rate this movie an A.

Fly Away Home

Fly Away Home came out in 1996. It is about a young girl having to go live with her father because her mother died. She has to move in with her father who lives in Canada. They struggled getting to know each other at first. The girl finds a family of goose eggs abandoned in  the woods that is being torn down for a development. Her and her father try to raise the geese, and want to get them to fly South for the winter. Her father invents things and was making a flying machine;  he came up with the plan to use the flying machine to get the geese to follow him South. Teaching these geese how to fly brings them closer together as a family. At the end they have some troubles while flying, and it's quite an adventure they embark on.

The movie Fly Away Home is inspiring. I watched it when I was a little girl and decided to rent it when I found it at the public library. This is a great movie for the family, it shows the troubles within families and how nothing is greater than the love they share. The baby geese are so adorable, and the girl is just like any other kid taking care of the geese: caring, understanding, and loving. I love this movie, it's quite old but still just as captivating. This movie is an A.

Eight Below

Eight Below is a tragic tale about a team of sled dogs and researchers in Alaska. There is a huge storm, and the team of sled dogs almost doesn't make it back. The sled dog trainer and driver Jerry Shepard is played by Paul Walker, he gets frostbite on his hands and must betransported out of there quickly. The team had to leave without the dogs, because they needed to get out of there before the storm hit. Jerry didn't know they left the dogs because he was unconcious for the trip back. The movie watches the struggles the dogs face on their own, and Jerry struggling to get back to them. The movie does have a happy ending.

I am in love with this movie. It has a great story line, and is very intense watching the dogs try to survive. The love that Jerry has for his dogs is inspiring. I reccomend this movie to most families, but it's very sad with the dogs almost not making it. So if the child loves dogs, it may not be a good idea to let them watch Eight Below. Paul Walker is my favorite  actor, he is so dreamy. I rate this movie an A+.

Alvin, Theodore, and Simon

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel is the return of the Chipmunks; Alvin, Theodore, and Simon are now going to try to be normal teenage chipmunks and attend high school. Dave their dad is in a hospital in London after a terrible accident on stage. They are left with his mother who also soon becomes in the hospital; they are left in the care of Dave’s nephew Toby. They struggle with high school, because they are no longer the super popular, and go through hazing. Alvin, Theodore, and Simon try to help out there high school by winning the battle of the bands competition to receive $25,000. The Chipettes soon come into the picture and are their competition. They fall for each other, and then perform together to win the competition for their school.
I saw the Alvin and the Chipmunks first movie a long time ago, and really liked it. I debated on renting this one, but I’m glad I did. It was very interesting and it made me laugh, there were never any boring parts. This movie is appropriate for any age, and I highly recommend it to any family. What child wouldn’t like to watch dancing, singing chipmunks? My favorite character is Theodore; he is the hefty sweet chipmunk.

The big blue head!

The movie Megamind is about a young alien that’s blue with a big head, and grows up with his arch nemesis, Megaman. Megamind kills off Megaman, and becomes bored with no one to challenge him and his evil ways. He is a super genius and creates a new Superhero to make his life more interesting again. It isn’t until Megamind starts to fall in love with Roxanne Richie the news reporter that’s really kind. Megamind starts to change his ways, and you will have to watch the rest of the movie to find out what happens.
I plan to but this movie as soon as it comes out. It made me giggle, and was so interesting. Sometimes it’s hard for me to keep paying attention to some movies but this one definitely kept my attention.  I think this movie might be a little too intellectual for children under age 6. This would make a great family movie, and would definitely lighten the mood. I rate this movie an A++. Hope you like it!

Finding Nemo

Marlin is an overprotective clownfish that lives with his son Nemo in a sea Anemone in the movie Finding Nemo.  On Nemo’s first day at school, he swims out in the drop off to prove he can swim well even with his deformed fin. Nemo gets captured by some divers, and gets put in a fish tank in a dentist office. Marlin travels through the Ocean, with a fish named Dory to find his son; he learns to take risks. It’s a long journey but once Marlin and Nemo are reunited, Marlin starts letting Nemo be more independent.
This is an older family movie, and is very popular. Finding Nemo always makes me laugh, and Dory is a funny character, because she has short term memory loss. This movies theme is about how parents must learn to let go of their children at some point, and give the child their freedom. This movie has a good lesson for parents, and is entertaining for the rest of the family. Finding Nemo is a great movie to watch with the family. I give this movie an A+.
